To view spec sheets and use the Spec Sheet Package tool, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed. You can download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader by clicking here.
My login failed, even though I entered my correct user name and password. Why?
Login fields are case-sensitive. Try turning the caps lock off and re-entering your username and password in the lower case. If you mixed both upper and lower case when creating your username and password, you must enter the information exactly as it was created.
What should I do if the site seems to be running slow?
The speed in accessing the site could be caused by a number of issues related to your computer processor, modem, ISP, browser, or eLumit. We suggest viewing eLumit with a modem speed of at least 56k and a computer processor speed of at least 133 MHz. You can also try closing all other applications on your computer while viewing eLumit on your Web browser.
Why do images on eLumit look blurry on my AOL browser?
AOL browsers are configured to read only a portion of all the data available in JPG images. As a result, many of the high-quality images on eLumit are compressed to the point that they look blurry. You can solve this problem by changing the settings in your AOL browser:

AOL Version 6.0: Under the Settings menu, select Preferences, Internet Properties (WWW), and Web Graphics. Click on Never Compress Graphics.
AOL Version 5.0: Click on the My AOL button. Select Preferences, WWW and then Web Graphics. Uncheck the Used Compressed Graphics box.
AOL Version 4.0: Click on the My AOL button. Select Preferences, WWW and then click on Uncompressed Graphics.
You will then need to restart AOL in order for the changes take effect.
eLumit has timed out. What do I do?
After 24 hours of inactivity, eLumit will "time out”. You must close and reopen eLumit to resume working.
What do I do if I can’t find the answers to my questions?
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions are provided to assist you with most troubleshooting for the site. If you have additional questions, feel free to email us at support@elumit.com.
How do I search for products?
You can search for products on eLumit in 2 ways. If you know the name or catalog number of the product you’re looking for, you can enter all or part of it directly into the keyword search. Then hit the Search button. Or, if you want to do a more general search, you can use the drop-down menus to find groups of products that meet your criteria. You can narrow your search results by selecting search refinements that are dynamically generated depending on what you select in the basic search, or by entering more keywords. For more detailed information on searching, click on the “i” button to the right of the search menu.
How do I find out which manufacturers have products on eLumit?
All of the manufacturers who have products in the eLumit database are listed alphabetically in the Manufacturer scroll-down menu found in the basic search. For more detailed profiles on each company, click the Who's Who link above the Manufacturer selection list.
I did a search and no records were displayed. Why?
None of the participating manufacturers in the eLumit database make the product with all of the features you’re looking for. Try opening up your search to more options by changing some of the search parameters to “Any”.
What do I do if I’m having trouble finding a certain product?
Your search may be either too specific or too general. If you get a large number of search results, you may need to narrow your search criteria. Try using the Refinements menus to narrow your search or enter a keyword in the upper left hand corner. Or, if you have ended up with no results for a particular search, you may have to open up your criteria a bit. Try expanding your search by choosing “Any” within some of the menus.
In what order are search results displayed?
When viewing results in Product view, results are first grouped together by characteristics that they have in common (i.e. lamping, mounting), and then within those groups the order is randomized every 24 hours. Results are not displayed alphabetically to be fair to all manufacturers, regardless of company name.
Does eLumit provide access to pricing?
There is currently no reference to pricing on eLumit. Pricing in the lighting industry varies on a project by project basis due to many factors, so it is difficult to provide accurate “list” pricing. If manufacturers provide “list” pricing on their websites in the future, we will consider providing a link to this information.
Does eLumit recommend products?
eLumit does not recommend or endorse the products that are displayed on the site. The mission of eLumit is to provide comprehensive, unbiased information about lighting products to specifiers.
When I clicked on a product, I got an error message or an inactive link. What do I do?
We hope that you won’t encounter errors or inactive links when using eLumit, but occasionally we may not be able to catch all bugs. Please take a moment to email us at support@elumit.com so that we may fix the problem as soon as possible. We apologize if you experience any problems and suggest that you visit the manufacturer’s website through the links provided in order to get any information you need.
