Children’s Place Project in New Jersey
A vacant warehouse in New Jersey was converted into a dynamic headquarters for the American manufacturer of children’s clothes, The Children’s Place. The building was reconstructed in order to create a more collaborative team structure among different business areas, using lighting as a significant architectural element to create a light and open environment.
Lighting performs an important supporting role and therefore, the architects chose the PH Artichoke by Louis Poulsen for the large central room because of its character and size. The PH Artichoke also serves as an anchor for the room while lending its importance in to the context of the building.
In the corridors and walkways, the designers introduced AJ Cirkul, luminaires created of blown homogenous opal glass designed by the Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. The idea was to create a rhythm using the light to suggest the path.
The lighting in the office areas is supplied by a combination of the Nyhavn Pendants, AJ Cirkul and uplights with fluorescent tubes ensuring that employees receive an adequate amount of lighting.
